My Love Of Retro Style Football Jerseys

My Love Of Retro Style Football Jerseys

I have 2 vintage Manchester United jersey’s that I really love, there’s just something about them that I love.  The style and the fact they don’t have Huge sponsorship emblazoned across the front of them.

When I wear my retro vintage jersey’s it reminds me of watching old footage of the famous Busby Babes; George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law playing for Manchester United as they embarked on their first European Cup victory in swashbuckling fashion, far from the corporate money making machine that it is today.

When I put on those jersey’s I close my eyes I can see George Best dancing his way past players down the wing, Bobby Charlton’s immense power surging forward from midfield and Denis Law predatory goal scoring skills in the box.

Here are some examples of my favourite retro style jerseys:

The 1977 Manchester United Home Shirt:

The 1968 Manchester United European Cup Final Shirt:

Fooball seemed more innocent back then, the players didn’t dive, they weren’t millionaires, they were ordinary Joe-So’s (well that is apart from George Best who went on to become the first football superstar, he was up there with the Beatles!)

And in my opinion its that passion that lives on in these wonderful shirts.

Thanks for reading.

Aidan.
